Authorities are on high alert in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district after five girls vanished from a government school hostel. The students, all in Class 8, disappeared from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Girls' Hostel in Pali town, sparking a flurry of investigative activity.
A special investigation team (SIT), led by the District Superintendent of Police Nivedita Naidu, is vigorously searching for the missing students. Hostel assistant warden Sarika Sharma reported that the girls attended a Janmashtami event on Saturday but were absent for breakfast on Sunday morning.
A note discovered in one of the girl's notebooks, expressing a desire to become independent, has added complexity to the case. Meanwhile, the families have criticized hostel management for security lapses, alleging broken gates, lack of a boundary wall, and malfunctioning CCTV cameras.
