A notorious criminal, Dhirendra, escaped from a district hospital on Sunday morning, where he was being treated after an encounter-related injury. His escape has led to the suspension of two police officers responsible for his security, according to officials.
Dhirendra was apprehended on Friday night after an encounter in Alipur forest, during which he obtained a leg injury. He faced charges for the murder of 70-year-old Ratrani, the mother of a sub-inspector, during a robbery in Hapur district on August 11. Police recovered weapons and stolen items from him.
A comprehensive manhunt, including teams from Civil Lines, Kotwali, and the Special Operations Group, is underway. They are searching bus stands, forests, and scrutinizing hospital CCTV footage. The SSP confirmed ongoing efforts to re-arrest Dhirendra, with the detained officers booked for negligence.
