Kolkata Court Clears Saradha Scam Accused in Key Cases

A Kolkata court acquitted Sudipto Sen and Debjani Mukherjee, accused in the Saradha ponzi scam, of three charges under Indian Penal Code sections 406 and 420. The prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence, leading to their acquittal. Numerous other cases remain pending against the duo.

In a significant development, a Kolkata court on Tuesday acquitted Sudipto Sen and Debjani Mukherjee, key figures in the multi-crore Saradha ponzi scam, in three of the numerous cases currently pending against them.

The duo faced charges of criminal breach of trust and cheating under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. In a proceedings held at the 11th Judicial Magistrate court at Bichar Bhavan, prosecution failed to substantiate their claims, resulting in an acquittal.

The legal representative of Sen and Mukherjee stated that the exoneration was due to inadequate evidence presented by the prosecution. Despite this relief, the accused remain embroiled in many other legal battles as several cases are still pending in courts.
