A prosecution witness in the trial concerning Sheena Bora's murder revealed that Sheena once expressed her desire to take 'sanyas' due to personal troubles and a troubled relationship with her mother, Indrani Mukerjea. The witness highlighted the complexities in Sheena's life, including her intent to marry Rahul Mukerjea.

The witness, who studied with Sheena up to Class 12 in Guwahati, disclosed that their last meeting was during her wedding in 2011. During this meeting, Sheena seemed content with Rahul and planned to marry him. The strained relationship with Indrani was attributed to her absence during Sheena's and her brother's upbringing.

The court heard that communication between Sheena and her friends ceased in April 2012, just before her disappearance. It is alleged that Indrani Mukerjea, alongside her driver and former husband, orchestrated Sheena's murder over financial disputes and her disapproval of Sheena's relationship with Rahul. The murder was uncovered in 2015, leading to multiple arrests.
