A 26-year-old man, identified as Ajit, was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen. The police suspect the incident was driven by jealousy and a property dispute, officials reported on Friday.
The tragedy unfolded Thursday night when Ajit was allegedly summoned to a flyover leading to the Goverdhan bridge in the Chhata area, where he was attacked. He succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital, authorities confirmed.
According to Suresh Chandra Rawat, Superintendent of Police (Rural), preliminary investigations reveal that the motive revolves around a family property dispute and jealousy. Ajit's father had recently sold land for approximately 1.5 crore rupees, from which Ajit bought a car. This purchase allegedly sparked tensions and confrontations in the village. A complaint by Ajit's father named four villagers, and police have detained nine individuals for questioning as the investigation continues.
