In a shocking incident at the Supreme Court, a 71-year-old lawyer attempted to throw a shoe at the Chief Justice of India, B R Gavai, during a court session on Monday. The Chief Justice remained unfazed and continued proceedings.
The lawyer, identified as Rakesh Kishor, tried to approach the judges but was stopped by security personnel. As he was escorted out, Kishor shouted slogans claiming insult to Sanatan Dharma, sparking calls for investigation.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta condemned the act as the result of misinformation on social media. Senior advocate Indira Jaising called for legal action against what she termed an attack on the judiciary as a whole. The incident may be linked to the CJI's previous remarks on a Vishnu idol dispute.
