China has expressed stern objections to Japan in response to remarks concerning Taiwan made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The diplomatic dispute was highlighted in discussions held on Tuesday in Beijing between senior officials from both nations' foreign ministries.

Masaaki Kanai, representing Japan's foreign affairs for Asia and Oceania, engaged in consultations with Liu Jinsong, a high-ranking official from China's foreign ministry, aiming to address the controversy.

During a regular press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning articulated China's demand for Japan to retract the comments regarding Taiwan, emphasizing Beijing's discontent over the situation.
