Masaaki Kanai, representing Japan's foreign affairs for Asia and Oceania, engaged in consultations with Liu Jinsong, a high-ranking official from China's foreign ministry, aiming to address the controversy.
During a regular press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning articulated China's demand for Japan to retract the comments regarding Taiwan, emphasizing Beijing's discontent over the situation.
