The legal drama between BJP MLA Karnail Singh and former Delhi Minister Satyender Jain has escalated as a Rouse Avenue court lists the defamation complaint for the formal framing of charges. Jain filed the complaint claiming Singh made defamatory remarks during a news channel interview.
Presiding over the case, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Dalal has slated the matter for April 8, while Singh's legal team contests the charges, seeking a resolution in the Sessions court where a related revision is pending. The court clarified that proceedings hinge on the Sessions court's forthcoming decision.
Despite Singh's arguments questioning court jurisdiction, citing his non-legislative status during the incident, the court sided with Jain. Allegations against Singh involve claims that the Enforcement Directorate found immense wealth linked to Jain, accusations that Jain vehemently denies as false and defamatory.
