A man identified as Gaurav Sharma has been arrested for impersonating a sub-inspector in hopes of marrying into a wealthy family, police reported on Tuesday.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Diksha Bhavare, during a routine car check in the Khutar area, police discovered a sub-inspector's uniform hanging inside Sharma's vehicle. Suspicious of his claims of working in Lakhimpur Kheri, authorities verified with the local police, revealing that Sharma's story was false.

The investigation uncovered that Sharma, a Mathura native living in Khutar, adopted the guise to enhance his marital prospects. He also admitted to using the uniform to avoid toll taxes. Legal proceedings are underway after his detention.
