The planned march by Harihar Sena around the periphery of the disputed Shahi Jama Masjid-Harihar temple has met with opposition from the Shahi Jama Masjid committee president Zafar Ali. He condemned the march as an 'unlawful' attempt to introduce a new practice. Authorities have not yet granted permission for the event.
Zafar Ali cited the sensitive situation, urging administration to deny permission to maintain peace. Rishi Raj Giri, from Kela Devi temple and founder of the International Harihar Sena, announced the scheduled march on November 19. The event aims for a peaceful circumambulation asserting the site's religious importance, following a 2.5-km route.
District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia confirmed that Section 163 BNSS is active in Sambhal and stated that security arrangements have been reinforced. The Shahi Jama Masjid-Harihar Temple dispute is before the courts, with past violence adding to the tensions. A decision regarding the march is expected on November 19.
