Bengaluru's Crackdown on Illegal Paying Guest Accommodations

In a significant crackdown, the Bengaluru East City Corporation has sealed 14 paying guest accommodations for allegedly breaching standard operating procedures. The action highlights the city's commitment to ensuring compliance and safeguarding public health.
Commissioner D S Ramesh announced the move on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of regulatory adherence. Instructions were given to the Health Department to act against PG accommodations lacking proper trade licenses. This initiative is part of a broader trade license enforcement campaign, spearheaded under Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar and Health Officer Dr Savita.
From November 10 to 15, a special drive allowed 466 business owners to obtain same-day trade licenses under a streamlined system across 17 wards, enhancing user experience and eliminating middlemen. The initiative represents a significant step towards transparency and efficient service delivery in Bengaluru.
