In a concerted effort to combat cybercriminal activities, the Goa police have blocked access to 507 fraudulent websites and disconnected 767 phone numbers linked to scams this year, a spokesperson revealed on Saturday.
The crackdown involved 660 takedown requests targeting various online fraud platforms, which included 507 websites, 151 social media accounts, and two malicious mobile apps, according to Superintendent of Police (CyberCrime) Rahul Gupta.
These fraudulent platforms were implicated in a broad spectrum of cyber offenses, ranging from fake parcel delivery scams and online investment frauds to sextortion and government impersonation schemes. The highest number of shutdowns occurred in May 2025, with supportive actions from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
