The 9th International Exhibition & Conference on Agri-Machinery, Equipment & Agri-tech Solutions — EIMA Agrimach India 2025 — jointly organised by FICCI and Italian industry association FederUnacoma, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, concluded today at the IARI Grounds, PUSA, New Delhi, with a strong call to accelerate the transition toward green-fuel-based farm machinery and promote gender-friendly agricultural equipment.

Held from 27–29 November 2025, the event reinforced India’s growing position as a major global market for agricultural innovation, mechanisation, and sustainability-driven farm technology.

Massive Participation Highlights India’s Expanding Agri-Tech Ecosystem

This year’s edition witnessed exceptional participation, showcasing the rising demand for modern agricultural solutions:

  • 20,000 farmers, primarily from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Odisha

  • 4,000+ domestic dealers and distributors

  • 180+ Indian and international companies

  • 100+ international buyers from Algeria, Kenya, Oman, Malaysia, Morocco, South Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Uganda, the USA, Japan, the Netherlands, and Poland

Italy participated as the Partner Country, reaffirming the strong India–Italy cooperation in agri mechanisation.

The exhibition displayed a wide array of farm technologies — from precision farming tools and smart cultivation equipment to advanced irrigation systems and next-generation tractors — offering farmers practical solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Green Fuels and Gender-Friendly Machinery: A Vision for 2047

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, urged the industry to align its innovation roadmap with India’s Vision 2047 and focus on two critical priorities:

1. Transition to Green-Fuel Machinery

Dr. Chaturvedi emphasised the importance of shifting towards electric tractors, compressed biogas (CBG)-powered machinery, and other green technologies.

“In the next 5–10 years, we must move decisively toward green-fuel technologies. This shift will reduce maintenance costs and make farming more sustainable,” he said.

The Ministry, he added, will increasingly prioritise green-fuel technologies in government schemes, encouraging partnerships between Indian companies and global innovation leaders — especially from Italy.

2. Designing Gender-Friendly Farm Equipment

The Secretary stressed that 2026 being declared the International Year of Women Farmers adds urgency to addressing the needs of women farm workers.

“Women farmers perform some of the toughest agricultural tasks. Merely giving ownership of equipment to women does not reduce drudgery. Machines must be designed for their physical comfort and safety,” he noted.

He encouraged industry to integrate gender budgeting and ergonomics into equipment design to reduce workload and improve efficiency.

Industry, Governments, and International Partners Unite for Future Growth

Strengthening India–Italy Agricultural Cooperation

Italian Ambassador Mr. Antonio Bartoli expressed optimism about expanding bilateral cooperation and announced that Italy may soon post an Agriculture Attaché in New Delhi to deepen ties.

Positive Review from the Ministry

Shri Anbalagan P., Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, who visited the expo, praised the strong farmer turnout and the presence of a diverse range of domestic and foreign companies.

New Trends: Agriculture as a Service

Mr. T. R. Kesavan, Chairman, Organizing Committee — EIMA Agrimach India, highlighted an emerging model:

  • Farmers often use high-value equipment, like seeders, for just a few days.

  • Purchasing such machinery is not affordable.

  • “Agriculture as a Service” — offering machinery on rent — can dramatically improve efficiency and affordability.

Industry discussions with the Ministry show encouraging progress toward this new service-driven agri ecosystem.

India's Agriculture Market Poised for Strong Growth

Ms. Simona Rapastella, DG, FederUnacoma, cited the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) report showing that India's agricultural equipment market:

  • Was valued at USD 13.7 billion in 2023

  • Expected to reach USD 31.6 billion by 2033

  • Projected growth rate: 9% annually

This underscores India’s fast-growing potential as a global agri-tech powerhouse.

Improving Productivity Through Mechanisation and Innovation

Speaking on the need to secure India’s food future, Mr. Subroto Geed, Co-Chair, FICCI National Agriculture Committee, stressed that mechanisation is essential.

“To improve productivity, farmers need high-quality seeds, modern crop solutions, and labour-reducing mechanisation. Technology-driven reforms are key to building a resilient agricultural system.”

A detailed FICCI–PwC report titled “Farm Mechanisation: The Path Towards a Future-Ready India” was released, underscoring emerging trends, policy reforms, and adoption barriers.

Rising Adoption of Modern Agri Solutions Across India

Ms. Sabrina Mangialavori, Deputy Trade Commissioner, Italian Trade Agency, highlighted the growing use of mechanised solutions among Indian farmers — from tillage and sowing to irrigation, crop protection, and threshing — driven by demand for efficiency and reduced labour dependency.

EIMA Agrimach India 2025 Sets the Stage for Global Collaboration

The three-day event strengthened India’s position as a hub for agricultural innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation. It served as a crucial marketplace for manufacturers, solution providers, farmers, researchers, and policymakers.

The 10th edition of EIMA Agrimach is scheduled to be hosted in Italy next year, expanding global collaboration and showcasing cross-country innovations in agri-mechanisation and sustainable farming.
