In a significant crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday apprehended two forest guards in Rajasthan's Udaipur district on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000.
According to reports from the bureau, the accused guards, identified as Mahesh Kumar Meena and Vijesh Ahari, purportedly demanded the bribe to allow the passage of a timber-laden truck through the Katorwas forest checkpost.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau's investigation, initiated upon receiving a complaint, revealed the guards had agreed to the bribe. A trap set by the bureau led to their capture, catching them red-handed during the transaction.
