Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Withdraws Politically Motivated Cases Post-Imran Khan Protests

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has decided to close all cases deemed politically motivated, linked to the violent events of May 2023. These incidents erupted after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
During a recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, it was resolved that cases filed on May 9 and 10 lacked substantial evidence, prompting their withdrawal. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan, confirmed the decision.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has also directed that the Radio Pakistan Peshawar incident undergo a thorough investigation by a special committee. The committee is tasked with examining all facets of the attack, where protesters vandalized the building and attacked staff, and will present its report to the provincial assembly.
