Criticism Mounts Over Federal Government's Treatment of Imran Khan and Wife
The federal government's handling of former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi has drawn severe criticism, with allegations of human rights violations and denied medical care. Accusations of bias in political treatment and economic mismanagement further compound tensions, as PTI plans resistance strategies.
In a wave of criticism targeting the federal administration in Islamabad, questions are being raised over the alleged mistreatment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan has accused the central government of blatant human rights violations, highlighting restrictions reportedly imposed on medical care and family access, Dawn reported.
At a press conference hosted at the Peshawar Press Club, Jan exposed worsening conditions under the current regime, alleging deliberate medical neglect of the jailed couple. Detailing these claims, he stated Khan has suffered from a persistent eye issue and has been relocated in secrecy for treatment, flouting jail protocols, according to Dawn.
Demanding immediate intervention, Jan called for transparent medical information and the couple's transfer to Shifa International Hospital for proper care. He criticized comparisons with Nawaz Sharif's favorable treatment, pointing to broader political biases and judicial subversions, as purportedly evidenced by the government's actions, reported by Dawn.
The economic landscape under federal management also came under scrutiny, with Jan criticizing skyrocketing inflation and unemployment rates. He accused Islamabad of neglecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's rightful resources, leading to a severe financial strain. Concurrently, he outlined PTI's planned action to demand Khan and Bibi's release, empowering Mahmood Khan Achakzai to head upcoming strategic movements, Dawn reported.
