Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday evaluated the advancement of the Jal Jeevan Mission, aiming for universal access to safe drinking water in the region.
During the meeting, which included senior officials, a detailed district-wise analysis was conducted, focusing on providing functional household tap connections across all 20 districts. Discussions also covered the use of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes according to Central Public Health & Environmental Engineering Organisation (CPHEEO) standards, the status of pipe material procurement, and the progress of mapping the complete pipe network and water supply infrastructure on the PM Gati Shakti platform.
The chief minister emphasized the importance of maintaining quality materials and workmanship without compromise and ensuring all works strictly follow CPHEEO standards and approved technical specifications. Updates of pipe network mapping and infrastructure data in real-time on the PM Gati Shakti portal were directed to enhance planning, transparency, and inter-departmental cooperation.
