A sack filled with Elector Photo Identity Cards was discovered abandoned beside National Highway 12 in Nadia district, West Bengal, on Wednesday, according to local police reports.
Local residents found the sack near a garbage dump in Shantipur and reported it to the authorities, prompting a police team to take the sack for verification. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Controversy erupted as a Shantipur Panchayat Samiti member and a local TMC leader accused BJP workers of discarding the cards. The BJP, however, dismissed these claims, alleging that the TMC might have used the cards for fraudulent voting activities. This incident coincides with the special revision of electoral rolls in the state.
