EU Questions China's New Tariffs on Pork Imports

The European Commission has expressed its reservations about China's newly implemented tariffs on European Union pork imports, labeling the allegations as questionable and lacking sufficient evidence.

In a statement, the Commission said it is closely examining the provisional definitive duties announced and will assess them in relation to compliance with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules.

Starting Wednesday, China will enforce tariffs ranging from 4.9% to 19.8% on pork imports from the EU for the next five years. These rates are lower than the initial 15.6% to 62.4% tariffs announced in a preliminary ruling in September.
