In a scare that disrupted the educational routine, Ahmedabad was on high alert yesterday after 10 private schools received threatening emails claiming that bombs would explode in their premises during the afternoon shift.
The threat turned out to be a hoax, but not before schools took precautionary measures by declaring a holiday for the afternoon shift. The morning shift had already concluded when the email was received. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1, Harshad Patel, provided these insights in a press briefing.
Police teams, including bomb detection and disposal squads, canine units, and anti-sabotage squads, conducted extensive searches but found nothing suspicious. The cybercrime division now faces the task of tracing the origins of the threatening emails. Investigations are underway, with the content of the emails remaining undisclosed as the probe continues.
