The deceased, identified as a resident of Amlipali, had left her home Wednesday evening but did not return. Her companion, Gopal, reportedly attempted to locate her to no avail. The following morning, villagers stumbled upon her body near a pond.

Authorities revealed that initial investigations suggest her head was crushed with a large stone. Sundargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirmal Chandra Mohapatra confirmed that Gopal has been brought in for questioning as the investigation proceeds.
