The Municipal Corporation of Delhi's standing committee has approved revised budget estimates for the fiscal year 2025-26 and budget estimates for 2026-27. Officials report that the budget aims to enhance civic services, making the capital simpler, safer, cleaner, and more dignified for its residents.
Standing Committee chairperson Satya Sharma highlighted key focus areas such as tackling air pollution, expanding green spaces, and upgrading educational and healthcare facilities. Notably, the budget promises increased sanitation efforts and improved public spaces by converting reclaimed landfill land into green areas.
In terms of governance, Sharma emphasized that the budget reflects good governance and public service without raising taxes, while specific financial allocations remain undisclosed. The MCD plans faster staff promotions, regularizations, and additional support for councilors, aiming to provide a new direction and energy for Delhi.
