The Central Information Commission (CIC) has dismissed the explanation by the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) that letters sent by a Sahara depositor were 'not traceable' due to office relocation.

The CIC instructed the CRCS to submit a status report on these letters within four weeks, following an RTI file by retired IFS officer Kewal Krishan Gupta, who sought updates on Sahara cooperative society deposit refunds.

The CRCS claimed the correspondence was untraceable after moving to the World Trade Centre, New Delhi, but this explanation was not accepted by Information Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Jindal.
