In a bid to eliminate the entrenched VIP culture at India's Republic Day parade, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh announced on Friday a new naming convention for enclosures, with them now reflecting the names of Indian rivers. Enclosures for the Beating Retreat will be named after musical instruments.
Highlighting the government's commitment to cleanliness, Singh revealed that a cleanup campaign led by NCC cadets and My Bharat volunteers would take place after the events on January 26 and 30. These volunteers will be responsible for clearing waste from Kratavya Path and its surrounding areas.
With the 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, preparations are in full swing. The event promises grand parades, cultural showcases, and demonstrations of India's military prowess. Ticket sales for major events have begun, attracting both live audiences and those viewing broadcasts worldwide. European dignitaries will also visit during the celebrations, enhancing the international presence at the festivities.
