The mangled remains of Ahirwar were discovered in Samba on January 7. Investigators confirmed he was strangled before his face was defaced with a stone. Kumar, his close associate, was motivated by the victim's recent Rs 13 lakh settlement from the Madhya Pradesh government.
Kumar, who confessed during interrogation, used stolen ATM and Remit cards to withdraw Rs 55,000 from Ahirwar's account. Police recovered three mobile phones from the suspect, alongside cash and further deposits in his bank. Efforts are ongoing to reclaim the stolen funds.
