Dowry Demands Lead to Tragic Stillbirth: A Shocking Case of Abuse

A young woman alleges her husband and in-laws subjected her to physical abuse over dowry demands, culminating in a stillbirth. Despite her refusal to meet the demands, she faced confinement and assault. The police have booked six individuals, including her husband, under various charges, and investigations are ongoing.

A harrowing case of alleged dowry-related abuse has come to light in the Civil Lines area, with 19-year-old Rubina Bano accusing her husband and in-laws of physical violence, resulting in the stillbirth of one of her twins.

According to authorities, Rubina alleged that the abuse began soon after her marriage to Salman Shah, 24, from Mirzapur district, in May 2024. The demands escalated to include Rs 1 lakh and a 'Bullet' motorcycle.

On May 21, 2025, a severe beating allegedly resulted in Rubina's medical crisis. Despite delivering twins, one child was stillborn. An FIR has been filed, and further legal action is underway against the six accused family members.
