Delhi Tribunal Awards ₹73.97 Lakh to Road Accident Victim

A Delhi Motor Accident Claims Tribunal awarded ₹73.97 lakh to Varun Goyal, who sustained a 64% permanent disability in a 2018 road accident that killed his father. The tribunal concluded that the vehicle's driver was negligent and liable, dismissing any claims of insurance policy breach.

In a pivotal judgment, the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in Delhi has sanctioned a compensation of over ₹73.97 lakh. This substantial sum was awarded to Varun Goyal, a victim of a severe road mishap in 2018, which tragically claimed his father's life.

The incident unfolded on May 29, 2018, near Peer Baba Mazar, Aman Vihar. A Tata Ace, driven recklessly, collided with a motorcycle carrying Goyal and his father, Hukum Chand. While Chand succumbed to his injuries, Goyal was left with a 64% permanent disability.

Despite the insurer's attempt to dispute the claim, the tribunal upheld that the driver's negligence was the root cause of the tragedy. The compensation aims to restore Goyal to as close as possible to his pre-accident status. Goyal was awarded ₹65.37 lakh for future income loss due to disability, alongside compensation for his father's death.
