In Bhopal, tensions have escalated as Bajrang Dal members protested following the recent seizure of beef, blackening the photo and nameplate of Mayor Malti Rai, whom they accused of shielding cow smugglers. Emotions were high as they demanded her resignation.
Officials intercepted a truck carrying 26.5 tons of meat, later confirmed by laboratory tests as cow meat. Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanchar Mishra announced that a Special Investigation Team has been formed to thoroughly investigate the incident, promising strict action based on the findings.
Accusations flew as both the Hindutva organizations and the opposition Congress criticized the handling of the situation, with the Congress visiting the controversial slaughterhouse to demand a thorough probe. Madhya Pradesh Minister Chaitanya Kashyap confirmed an ongoing investigation, while arrests and suspensions have begun within the municipal corporation.
