A BTech graduate who worked in the United Kingdom was apprehended by Bhopal railway police for allegedly robbing train passengers, officials stated on Monday. The individual, Pranjal Dixit Kothi, turned to theft following financial losses from online gambling, to which he had developed an addiction.

According to Superintendent of Railway Police (Bhopal) Rahul Kumar Lodha, gold valued at Rs 7 lakh was retrieved from Kothi, a 36-year-old hailing from Dev Sthan in Lucknow. Kothi, who holds a BTech degree from Pune, previously worked at a multinational firm in the UK before falling into a cycle of crime.

Kothi was captured in Bhopal on Sunday after targeting passengers on premium trains including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Vande Bharat, officials confirmed. He has admitted to committing four thefts thus far, police added.
