The Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Karnataka is delving into the circumstances surrounding the death of C J Roy, the founder, and chairman of the Confident Group. Roy was discovered deceased on January 30 at his office. His passing coincided with Income Tax raids, sparking allegations of suicide.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that the SIT will conduct thorough interviews with family members and other relevant individuals. The investigation's findings will guide further actions. Questions have arisen regarding the pressure Roy allegedly faced from the IT department, but officials refrain from speculation until the probe concludes.
In response to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's appeal for a judicial inquiry, the state has set up a task force while awaiting potential involvement from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Meanwhile, the Ashok Nagar Police have filed an Unnatural Death Report to aid the ongoing investigation.
