A Delhi court has delivered a significant judgment, acquitting the accused Raju Bhangra of murder charges in a 2015 case involving the death of Ahsan Khan, a rickshaw puller. The court cited a lack of credible evidence and unreliable witness testimonies, leading to a benefit of doubt for the accused.
The case, which centered on an alleged monetary dispute, fell apart as the prosecution's key eyewitness, Munna Tiwari, retracted his earlier statement during cross-examination. This, coupled with gaps in investigation like the absence of CCTV footage, severely weakened the prosecution's position.
Additional Sessions Judge Virender Kumar Kharta noted the suspicious conduct of the prosecution's witness and highlighted the failure to provide corroborative evidence linking Bhangra to the crime. Consequently, the court concluded that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
