The Ghaziabad Police have successfully uncovered a forgery racket operating through the Delhi Passport Office, leading to the arrest of five individuals. The operation came to light after suspicious applications surfaced, flagging multiple passports issued with identical addresses and phone numbers.
Amidst allegations of oversight failures, the Bhojpur police station's Station House Officer (SHO) and eight sub-inspectors have faced disciplinary action. Police Commissioner J Ravindra Gaur highlighted the supervision lapses, prompting the transfer of these officials, while the station clerk has been suspended for misusing digital IDs in the verification process.
Investigators are delving deeper into approximately 30 mobile numbers associated with the case, suspected to connect with agents and postal employees. The arrests mark a significant breakthrough, though the motive of the forgery remains under investigation as authorities look to apprehend absconding suspects.
