Diplomatic Connections: Xi Jinping's Call Before Trump's Visit
Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation as Trump prepared for a visit to China. Following tensions due to U.S. tariffs, relations stabilized after a trade truce in South Korea. Xi also spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including an invitation to China.
In a significant diplomatic move, Chinese President Xi Jinping engaged in a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, as reported by China's CCTV. This exchange comes prior to Trump's anticipated visit to China in April, marking a step forward in international relations.
The White House, however, remained tight-lipped, declining immediate comment, while Chinese state media offered no additional insights into the specifics of the call. The conversation follows their last discussion in November, which Trump described as indicative of 'extremely strong' bilateral ties.
Simultaneously, President Xi reached out to Russian President Vladimir Putin through a video link, inviting him for a visit to China. Amidst trade tensions from prior U.S. tariffs, a period of stabilization ensued after an October meeting in South Korea, resulting in a tentative trade agreement.
