The Delhi Assembly has launched a privileges investigation against Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) over alleged derogatory comments against Sikh Gurus, confirmed Speaker Vijender Gupta on Wednesday.
Alongside the DGP, the Committee of Privileges will scrutinize the actions of the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) of Punjab related to this case. Last month, Jalandhar Police filed an FIR about the dissemination of a seemingly manipulated video of Delhi Assembly's Leader of Opposition Atishi. In response, Delhi Cabinet minister Kapil Mishra accused a breach of privilege and Constitutional law.
Despite repeated requests, Punjab Police did not provide essential documents to the Delhi Assembly, prompting Speaker Gupta to question the integrity of Punjab's investigation.
