A devastating fire erupted early Friday in a building used as temporary housing for workers in Budakeszi, Hungary, leading to the tragic deaths of at least three people and injuring nearly two dozen others. The incident occurred west of Budapest and swiftly drew a significant emergency response.
According to the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze enveloping the two-story structure. They rescued several survivors and removed three gas cylinders which posed additional risk. The bodies of two men and a woman were found beneath the collapsed roof.
Police have initiated a criminal investigation citing an explosion in one of the rooms as a potential cause of the fire. Authorities uncovered irregular gas usage, highlighting compliance issues. Paramedics treated 22 injured victims, four critically, who were subsequently moved to Budapest hospitals.
