The Maharashtra government has set up a Civil Services Board to manage the postings and transfers of its IAS officers. This move aligns with the 2014 Indian Administrative Service Amendment Rules after a notification from the Union government's Department of Personnel and Training.

In a resolution issued by the General Administration Department, the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra is designated as the chairman of the board. Other board members include the senior-most Additional Chief Secretary or comparable officials.

The Additional Chief Secretary or an equivalent officer in the General Administration Department will act as the Member Secretary, ensuring the board's efficient functioning. The senior-most Additional Chief Secretary in a ministerial department in Mantralaya will also be a board member.
