The Delhi High Court instructed Jaideep Sengar to surrender, citing no formal extension of his interim bail previously granted on medical grounds. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma emphasized that the original bail term has ended and there is no record of its official prolongation.
Sengar, sentenced to a decade in prison in the Unnao custodial death case, was seeking an extension of his bail due to alleged Stage IV oral cancer. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) contested the extension, arguing the medical documents were fabricated.
The court mandated the CBI to produce a thorough verification report on Sengar's medical condition. As the case progresses, scrutiny remains on the authenticity of the claims regarding Sengar's health circumstances, and his legal obligation to return to custody.
