In a candid interview with France 5, Pelicot expressed her desire for her story to inspire others. ''Today I'm doing better, and this book allowed me to engage in self-reflection, to take stock of my life. I had to try to rebuild myself on this field of ruins. Today I am a woman standing strong,'' she stated.

The trial of her ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot, led to a re-evaluation of rape culture in France. The case exposed how the internet and distorted consent ideas can enable sexual violence.
