A tragic incident claimed the life of a 30-year-old welder when an empty diesel tanker exploded on the Ambala-Chandigarh Highway on Tuesday. Lakhwinder Singh, a vehicle repair mechanic, was working atop the tanker when it suddenly exploded and caught fire.

Singh suffered severe burn injuries after falling from the tanker and was immediately transported to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. The fire brigade arrived at the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control.

This incident is not unprecedented; a similar tanker explosion occurred at the same location three months ago, injuring two individuals. A case has been filed, and investigations are underway to determine the explosion's cause, according to Baldev Nagar Station House Officer Dharambir.
