The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized an immovable asset valued at Rs 39 lakh belonging to prominent Malayalam actor Jayasurya. The seizure forms part of an ongoing money laundering investigation surrounding an alleged investor cheating plot.
The investigation traces back to a Kerala Police FIR against Swathi Rahim and others for allegedly defrauding investors through an online bidding app called 'Save Box'. Rahim reportedly paid Jayasurya for his endorsement as a brand ambassador of the fraudulent scheme.
Jayasurya asserts his financial dealings were legal, expressing confusion over being implicated. The ED stated that funds gathered from investors, many through deceit, were misused for personal expenses and failed business ventures, including cryptocurrency trading.
