The NHRC has received multiple complaints about these organizations, some even masquerading with credentials suggesting government recognition. The matter has gained urgency with an incident involving a particular NGO named 'National Human Rights Council' registered in Delhi.

In response, the NHRC has demanded swift legal action from state and UT authorities to curb these practices. The commission has called for the cancellation of registrations obtained by misleading means to preserve the integrity of human rights advocacy in the country.
