The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully dismantled what it describes as a transnational drugs trafficking ring. The operation led to the arrest of five individuals, among them a Sri Lankan refugee, and the seizure of 78 kg of narcotics.
The NCB's probe spanned India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. It was set in motion after operatives intercepted two individuals with 2 kg of charas at Telangana's Raikal toll plaza on March 3. The suspects revealed their cargo and 78 kg of hashish oil were smuggled into India from the Nepalese border.
The NCB, investigating further, managed to seize the hashish oil from three individuals in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi before it could be sent to Sri Lanka via sea. The agency is now investigating another Sri Lankan national suspected to have funded and coordinated the smuggling operation.
