A special MP/MLA court in Jabalpur has taken action against Rao Uday Pratap Singh, the Madhya Pradesh state transport minister, following allegations regarding the national flag. Singh is accused of insulting the national tricolour during a 'Tiranga Yatra' rally held in 2024.
The allegations were brought forth by petitioner Kaushal Silawat, who has accused Singh of improperly displaying the flag on the bonnet of a vehicle during the rally in Narsinghpur on August 11, 2024. The court, led by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) D P Sutrakar, has issued a notice to Singh while deliberating on whether to direct police to file a First Information Report (FIR).
The 'Tiranga Yatras' were organized by the BJP ahead of Independence Day, aimed at encouraging public display of the national flag. The petitioner presented photographic evidence and filed complaints to various official bodies to substantiate the claims against the minister.
