Amritpal Singh, a notorious gangster associated with the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, was apprehended at the Moldova border, as revealed by a senior police official on Saturday. An Interpol Red Notice, requested by Punjab Police with assistance from central agencies, led to his detention.

Singh, alias Amrit Dalam, is wanted in multiple serious criminal cases in Punjab and has been on the run abroad. His capture results from persistent international efforts by police agencies. Legal and diplomatic processes are now in place to facilitate his extradition to India, according to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.

Marking a noteworthy progress in tracking fugitives, Singh's detention highlights Punjab Police's operation against gangsters like him, many of whom operate from abroad. They have also established an Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell to expedite extraditions.
