In a bid to secure water availability before the looming summer season, Jharkhand's government has announced an ambitious plan to repair over 1.44 lakh hand pumps across the state. State officials confirm that the necessary funds have already been dispatched to facilitate this large-scale endeavor.
Concerns were raised in the assembly by JMM MLA Hemlal Murmu about the worsening water crisis, particularly in the drought-prone Santhal Pargana. He highlighted issues with hand pumps installed over the past decade. Addressing these concerns, Minister Yogendra Prasad assured lawmakers that the government is devising effective strategies to manage water resources.
Amidst criticism from the Leader of Opposition, Babulal Marandi, regarding fund allocations, Prasad reaffirmed that the Jharkhand government has stepped up financially to address these repairs. Additionally, separate discussions centered on urban planning in Domchanch, where local officials aim to resolve conflicts in eco-sensitive zones while promoting commercial growth.
