In a landmark decision, a federal judge has directed the Trump administration to revive the operations of the government-funded Voice of America (VOA), which was effectively shut down under a previous executive order.

Judge Royce C. Lamberth's ruling comes after Kari Lake, Trump's nominee to lead the U.S. Agency for Global Media, was found to lack the authority for such an extensive organizational overhaul. The decision restores employment for over 1,000 VOA staff members who were put on administrative leave.

Patsy Widakuswara, White House bureau chief for VOA and an advocate in the lawsuit to restore operations, expressed gratitude for the ruling. Widakuswara stressed the importance of rebuilding trust with worldwide audiences, asserting the need for unbiased journalism rather than propaganda.
