In a significant crackdown on food safety violations, six individuals were arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly selling adulterated paneer and dairy products. Authorities seized approximately 3,900 kilograms of contaminated items.
The operation, conducted by the Commissioner's Task Force of Hyderabad and the Food Safety Officer of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), involved surprise inspections at Ganj Bazar, near Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad.
Investigators found that the stores procured adulterated products from unknown sources, selling them as quality paneer at Rs 280 per kg to food services and hotels. Seized items, worth Rs 11.11 lakh, were processed unsafely, lacking labels with essential details, and were exposed to contaminants.
