Bengaluru Police have cracked down on the illegal storage of cooking gas in the city, seizing 155 LPG cylinders from a godown, officials reported on Wednesday.

The operation was conducted on Tuesday within the Talaghattapura police station limits, based on a complaint by the Food Inspector of Bengaluru South Taluk. The complaint alleged the illicit storage of Bharat Gas cylinders in a godown located in Vishweshwaraiah Industrial Layout, J P Nagar.

A case has been registered under the Essential Commodities Act. "During the investigation, police seized 148 empty and 7 filled gas cylinders," a senior officer stated, adding that further investigation is underway.
