Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the Lok Sabha on Monday of his commitment to launch a CBI investigation into the reported suicide of a Punjab State Warehousing Corporation official, contingent upon a unified written appeal from all Punjab MPs.
The tragic death of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, allegedly by self-poisoning last Saturday, has sparked political upheaval in Punjab. Randhawa, a district manager in Amritsar, left behind a video accusing state minister Laljit Singh Bhullar of harassment, implicating him in the pressure that led to his suicide.
The incident prompted Bhullar's resignation and was brought to the national stage by Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who appealed in the Lok Sabha for Shah's intervention. Shah indicated his readiness to act if a comprehensive request from Punjab's MPs is submitted.
