The Allahabad High Court has settled a contentious petition surrounding the right of Tariq Khan, a resident of Bareilly, to conduct prayers at his residence. The court ruled that Khan can proceed with his prayers, provided the gatherings do not attract a large crowd, which could disturb peace in the area.
In an order issued on March 25, the bench comprising Justice Saral Srivastava and Justice Garima Prashad directed the withdrawal of a police challan against Khan. The court emphasized that any breach of the commitment to keep the gatherings small could lead to legal action from state authorities.
Concerns about large gatherings and their impact on local peace were raised by Additional Advocate General Anoop Trivedi, citing photographs as evidence. The court took these concerns seriously, leading to the withdrawal of security provided to Khan, and emphasizing adherence to the law to maintain order.
